This Cookie Policy explains what cookies and similar technologies, such as browser local storage, Nimu uses, why we use them, and how you can control them. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your personal data more generally.
Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser. Local storage is a related, slightly larger form of browser storage that serves the same purpose for us: both let the site remember something between page loads or visits. In this Policy the word cookies refers to both, unless we say otherwise. Under the EU ePrivacy rules, storing or reading information on your device requires your consent, unless it is strictly necessary to provide a service you have actively requested. That distinction is the line we draw below.
Nimu uses only a small set of first-party cookies and local storage, and every one of them is either strictly necessary or simply remembers a preference you set. We do not use analytics or advertising cookies today, and we do not set any third-party cookies of our own. Nothing that is not strictly necessary runs unless you turn it on.
These are used without consent because the Service, or the specific feature you asked for, cannot work without them, or because they simply remember a preference you chose. You cannot turn these off from within Nimu. You can still block or delete them in your browser, but if you do, parts of the Service will likely stop working or forget your choices.
| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| sb-<project>-auth-token | Cookie | Keeps you signed in between visits. Set by our authentication provider, Supabase; the exact name includes our project reference. | Session, refreshed while you stay active |
| nimu_tz | Cookie | Remembers your timezone so episode air times are shown correctly for you. | 1 year |
| nimu_locale | Cookie | Remembers your chosen language so pages load in it, including on the first render by the server. | 1 year |
| nimu_theme_mode | Local storage | Remembers whether you chose the light or dark theme. | Until you clear it |
| nimu_recent_searches | Local storage | Remembers your last few searches on this device, to show them back to you. This never leaves your device. | Until you clear it |
| nimu_cookie_consent | Local storage | Remembers the choice you make about optional cookies, so we do not ask again on every visit. Stored with the date and a version. | Until you change your choice |
We do not use any analytics cookies or tools today. If we introduce one in the future, for example to understand in aggregate which pages are popular, it will run only after you turn it on through the cookie banner or the Cookie preferences link in the footer, and we will update this page first with the specific tool and what it collects.
We do not show advertising or use advertising cookies today. We plan to introduce a limited amount of advertising in the future, potentially through Google AdMob and Google Ads, to help cover hosting costs. When we do, it will run only for visitors who consent through our cookie tool, it will be non-personalised by default, and we will update this page first with the specific vendors involved and, where relevant, the applicable vendor list.
The first time you visit Nimu, a banner lets you accept all optional cookies, reject everything that is not strictly necessary, or customise analytics and advertising separately. Rejecting is as easy as accepting, and closing the banner without choosing keeps only strictly necessary cookies. You can change your decision at any time using the Cookie preferences link in the footer of every page. You can also control or delete cookies in your browser settings; the help pages of your browser explain how. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will likely prevent you from signing in or using core features.
We do not set any third-party cookies of our own today. If that changes, for example when advertising is switched on, the third party responsible and the purpose of its cookies will be listed in section 4 before it happens, and, where the law requires it, only after you consent.
Where the law requires consent, we ask for it before any non-essential cookie is set, and we treat no action, or closing the banner, as a refusal rather than as consent. We store your choice, with the date and a version number, so we can honour it and show that it was given. If we materially change what the optional cookies do, we will ask again.
We may update this Policy as our use of cookies changes, most notably when analytics or advertising go live. We will change the Last updated date above whenever we do.
